Welcome to “Docents’ Corner.”
July 25, 2012
In future editions of this newsletter you will be hearing from the volunteers and docents at Makauwahi Cave Reserve. We’ll share interesting experiences, in and out of the cave, and perhaps even make our stories so compelling you will decide to join in the fun.

Everyone visiting the site seems to appreciate the work that has and is being done, always making our job a positive. Most view the area not just of cultural and scientific importance, but also unique, spiritual, mysterious, peaceful, and most of all intriguing. Docent hours at the cave are posted as Sundays from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. But, hey, if this doesn’t work for you, we can coordinate another day and/or time. Or, if you prefer working out of the cave, there are lots of other jobs. Always something for everyone; weeding, tortoise wrangling, seed harvesting, and so much more. Let me know when you are ready to start.
Our next training session with Dr Burney will be August 12 at 10 a.m. at Makauwahi Cave. Come join us to see what the Northwest Pit looks like with the water pumped out, see some remarkable fossils and artifacts, and learn more about our newest weed-pulling volunteers – eight giant tortoises! Call or email for more information.
